{October 22, 2014}   {Blog Tour} A Wedding and a Killing by Lauren Carr (A Mac Faraday Mystery)

Tour

2014-10-21_2011From Goodreads:  When Mac Faraday decides to do something, there’s no stopping him … even murder!

Not wanting to wait until their big day to start their life of wedded bliss, Mac Faraday and his lady love, Archie Monday, decide to elope to the little church where his ancestors had all married—along the tranquil shore of Deep Creek Lake. However, before they can say, “I do,” the sanctuary erupts into chaos when Gnarly finds a dead body in the church office.

As they dive into the investigation, Mac and his team discover more questions than answers. What kind of person walks into a church and shoots a man for no apparent reason? How do you solve the murder of a man who has no enemies in the world? Which of the seemingly kind-hearted church members is really a cold-blooded killer?

Then, there is the all-important question, how long do Mac Faraday and his lady love have to wait to get married?

Lauren Carr’s mystery novels are indeed one of my go-tos when I’m looking for a good whodunit.  Her characters, especially Mac Faraday and Archie, really make for an amazing read.  I love how vivid they are, and I especially love how far they’ve come in this series.  The best part is, each one of the novels in the Mac Faraday mysteries is actually a standalone–you don’t have to read the previous novels to understand what’s going on, and I find that absolutely enthralling!  Of course, I have read all the previous titles in the series, and I must say that they’re beyond awesome!

Carr’s latest novel, A Wedding and a Killing, finally has our beloved couple about to tie the knot, but of course, nothing goes as planned for Mac Faraday.  With two different crimes running the gamut, one years old and one fresh, the characters are whisked off on a sleuthing mission that has me entertained from the get go.  With Gnarly’s antics and Mac Faraday’s wit, the novel takes on a life of its own.  I will say that I was able to figure out the culprit of each murder mystery fairly early on, but even so, the novel is still a great read, and I loved watching the characters slowly begin to uncover the truth.  If you love a good mystery and are looking for a fresh read, definitely give A Wedding and a Killing a chance.  Fours stars.
