18005643From Goodreads: Carmyn Rafferty witnessed the aftermath of her mother’s affair. She learned at a young age not to trust anyone. Especially not your spouse. So she’s planned. She’s planned every detail of her life: who her husband will be, what their careers will be, what their lives will be like. All to avoid the pain of infidelity.

Dallas Brown lives a life all his own. He doesn’t do relationships, he doesn’t care what anyone thinks of him, and he doesn’t live up to anyone’s expectations but his own.

When Carmyn’s fiancé cheats on her, it sends her into a whirlwind of one-night stands with the most infamous player on campus. She can’t seem to stay away from this tough guy and his dangerous motorcycle. Everything about him is the complete opposite of who she’d planned to fall in love with: tattoos, dark stubble along his jawline, and hair that brushes his shoulders.

As Dallas and Carmyn begin to fall deeper and deeper into each other, they learn that love can truly be a wicked, wicked thing.

The Wicked Thing Playlist

Some of the songs on this list are on it because the words meant something to the story as I wrote the book. Others because the tone of the song captured the emotion, or mindset, or vibe I needed to write a particular scene.

Angeline Kace’s Playlist for Wicked Thing

1. Wicked Game, Phillip Phillips—This is actually where I got the title for the book. It was originally called something else, but then I found this song and it was perfect for the book.
2. Stay, Rihanna
3. Arms, Christina Perri
4. Home, Gabrielle Aplin—I listened to this song a lot while writing. It’s such an emotionally evocative song that it helped me tap into the emotions I needed.
5. Words, Skylar Grey—This one was right there with Home. Plus, the words of the song really fit a lot of what Carmyn was feeling at certain parts of the book.
7. Be My Baby, The Ronettes—The lake scene. ;)
8. Bourbon in Kentucky, Dierks Bentley
9. Consequences, Vanessa Daou—This song helped me write some of Carmyn’s scenes where I needed to channel certain emotions.
10. Changed by You, Between the Trees—Fitting for what Carmyn was feeling.
11. Find Me, Boyce Avenue—The song Carmyn dances to when her heart is broken. I actually listened to this song on repeat while writing that scene. Also cried through writing it as well.
12. (I’ve Had) The Time of My Life, Bill Medley & Jennifer Warnes
13. Cold Blues, The Quaker City Night Hawks—I wrote the majority of this book listening to these guys on repeat. The songs helped me channel Dallas and the location and just everything. When I hear these guys, I think of Dallas and Wicked Thing.
14. Some of Adam’s Blues, The Quaker City Night Hawks
15. Ain’t No Kid, The Quaker City Night Hawks
16. Fox in the Hen House, The Quaker City Night Hawks
17. Rattlesnake Boogie, The Quaker City Night Hawks
18. Yellow Rose, The Quaker City Night Hawks

And you can listen to this playlist RIGHT NOW on Spotify!!!
